Installation Guide

Bonnet Pull Relocation Kit

  • Make sure you have plenty of space to open your drivers door.

  • You need to position the bracket so the pull cord doesnt interfere with the door hinge bolts

  • The easiest way to do this is by installing the pull cord into the bracket and temporarily running the cable into the bonnet area. Offer up the bracket to the hinge and find where it sits nicely without any stress on the cord.
    * When intalling the pull cord make sure the flat spot of the pull cord thred is facing upwards

  • The picture below is about spot on.
    * Make sure the bracket does not rest on the lower door hinge.

  • Once you are happy with the position mark the bottom hole and drill your hinge for your M8 mounting bolt.
    * The final hole can be between 8.5mm and 9.5mm

  • Once the hole has been drilled de-bur the hinge to allow the bracket to sit perfectly flush.

  • Thread the cord through into the bonnet area and bolt the bracket onto the hinge.

  • This can be slightly tricky if you have fat fingers one tip is to tape one side of an open ended spanner and stick the nut onto the tape. This will stop it constantly falling off the spanner as you are trying to get the nut in place.

  • If you have skinny fingers you can probably just reach behind and hold the nut in place.

  • Now you have the bracket installed and the cable running into the bonnet area the next job is to attach it to the existing bonnet release mecahnism.

  • To make sure the new cable is the correct length, roughly offer the new cable up to where the old cable goes in and mark the new cables sheath.
The cable wants to just follow a natural curve to the mecahnism.

  • Remove the cable from the sheath and snip at your mark with some snips / pliars. The length of the cable itself will be shortened later.

  • Remove the 2 M8 Dome head bolts (No.5 Allen Key)
    * Before removing the bracket put some masking tape right upto the edge of the top metal bracket, this will help alignment when reinstalling

  • Remove the existing cable from the mecahnism by undoing the small bolt in the clamp.
    * Hold the cylinder with a pair of adjustables and use a 7mm socket to undo the small bolt.

  • Slide the new cable all the way through both plastic collars and the metal cable clamp

  • Pull the cable reasonably tight and tighten the bolt on the clamp.
*Doing this will prevent any slop in the cable but can be quite tight, alter this to your preference

  • Once you have a satisfactory feeling on your pull cord you just need to re-install the sliding mecahnism back onto your bracket and re-align your bonnet.
